Adrienne was the executive city news editor of the Daily Californian, UC Berkeley's independent student newspaper, in Spring 2016. She was also the lead city beat reporter — designated as senior staff — coordinating Berkeley city coverage through the 2014 local elections and December Black Lives Matter protests.

Berkeley City Council passes items regarding police action at December protests

The Berkeley City Council heard over three months of public comment from residents, law enforcement officials and students regarding police use-of-force during the 2014 December Black Lives Matter protests that took place in Berkeley and Oakland. 

The Council passed items to amend police protocol and launched an investigation into the actions and use of force employed during the protests. 

Mayor Tom Bates discusses police action, education in State of the City address

Berkeley Mayor Tom Bate's 2015 annual State of the City address focused on police action during the December Black Lives Matter protests, and called for a change in police-community relations, as well as mutual aid and use of less-than-lethal weapons. He also revealed changes to Berkeley Unified School District program funding and college education initiatives.

I was personally interested in dissecting the relationship between those in the UC Berkeley Greek system and neighboring Berkeley city residents. This investigative piece was about an ongoing lawsuit between one family and every campus fraternity — nearly 20 of them, and the ongoing national discussion about fraternity regulations and their place on college campuses.
